Following my Interim Exhibition months ago, my Architectural project has developed and progressed into a more refined project. I have completed a number of shoots, mainly focusing on the architectural buildings in the city of Liverpool.
I have evaluated and reviewed my shoots within my photography journal, which has helped me to feel more confident when considering uploading them to the Source Photography Graduate Magazine.
The Source Photography Graduate Magazine, is an online feature which enables graduate students to upload a selection of their images which represent their photographic style. Throughout the last few weeks of our photography lessons, we were made aware of the Source Graduate Photography online. This allowed us to research the website and see what kind of statements and photographs were uploaded from the previous graduate year. The Source website archives the images from the previous graduates, therefore it is a good way to keep an online presence after graduating from an institution.
SELECTING IMAGES AND WRITING A STATEMENT
The maximum amount of images we could select for the Source Submission was 8 photographs. I found this difficult as I have accumulated so many images that represent my practice. However I chose images that I felt were most successful, the majority of these were from my previous Interim Exhibition. Writing a statement was also difficult, as the word count was quite minimal so attempting to write about my photography style was challenging. However below is the selection of images I have chosen for the Source submission, along with my statement.
Source Stament:
Frank Lloyd Wright once wrote “Architecture is the triumph of human imagination, over materials, methods and men”. This idea of human imagination signifies the concept that architecture truly is a visual art. My series of photographs show that I have a love for Architectural Design. I have photographed architectural structures as if they were humans having their portraits taken. I want my work to challenge the idea of constructed beauty, and question whether anything made my man can truly be beautiful. Architecture surrounds us daily, and I for one appreciate its constructed form and beauty.
I am glad that I chose to submit a selection of images to the Source Graduate Magazine, as this is a good way to not only archive some of my most successful images, but also promote myself as a graduate with photography experience.
